Syllabus Structure: 

The Marshal Corps shall consist of members of UNL faculty and staff. Efforts shall be made to include representation from all UNL colleges. Emeriti/ae shall also be eligible to serve. 

Selection: 

Members shall be appointed by the UNL Head Marshal. Candidates may be nominated by the Faculty Senate, members of the Commencement and Honors Convocation Committee, College Deans, Heads of academic units, and current and former members of the Marshal Corps. 

Term of Office: 

Marshal Corps members shall serve three-year terms. There shall be no limit to the number of terms served by individual members. Terms may be consecutive. Service may continue after the retirement of a Marshal from other UNL duties and employment. 

Responsibilities: 

The primary responsibility of the Marshal Corp shall be to facilitate UNL-wide academic ceremonies. Such ceremonies involving academic regalia shall be the special concern of the Marshals and shall include: 

1) Commencements and related events. 

2) Honors Convocation. 

3) Other ceremonies, at the initiative of the UNL administration or Faculty Senate.
